LISB-ON: NATURE’S LIVE ACT
LISB-ON brings music and nature to the heart of Lisbon with a one-of-a-kind sound activation in the Metro.
Context
LISB-ON is more than an electronic music festival. It is an annual ritual that connects Lisbon, nature, and electronic culture. Over two days in Monsanto, the city enters a rare state, where electronics and nature coexist, intersect, and breathe together.
Challenge
How to announce the 2026 Artist Headliners and connect the city with music and nature?
Approach
Electronic music was born from experimentation from the unlikely fusion between machines and humans. So what happens if we add a third element to that equation? Nature. Through biodata sonification, we can transform the bio-electrical impulses of plants into musical notes in real time. Each plant becomes a living instrument sensitive, unpredictable, and capable of responding to its environment, and to human interaction.
Solution
To announce the final festival line-up, we created an unexpected moment in one of Lisbon’s busiest and greyest areas. At the centre of that urban space, taking over a digital billboard we set up a DJ booth built entirely out of plants leaves, moss, branches and vegetation, all connected to sensors that convert their electrical activity into sound. We created a performative live act where anyone can make music with the plants. The outdoor screen will display the full line-up in real time, matching botanical elements with the 2026 artist names.
