First-time buyers looking to purchase a home are becoming increasingly discouraged by the current housing market and by their own expectations of what their first house should be. Rising prices, limited supply, and a strong focus on perfection make it harder to take the first step.
Our challenge was to create a social-first video format that would resonate with starters in the housing market and position Rabobank as a supportive and relevant partner during their home-buying journey. How can we help them see opportunities instead of limitations, and stay top of mind in a meaningful way?
Approach
A fresh perspective on house hunting
We discovered that many inexperienced buyers overlook opportunities by demanding perfection. What they need is a more realistic and empowering view of the market, one that helps them recognize potential rather than focus on what’s missing.
That’s where Bob Sikkes comes in. Known from the popular TV show Kopen Zonder Kijken, Bob is a trusted voice on Dutch television. With his practical mindset and down-to-earth attitude, he helps people see the hidden potential in homes, always positive, never preachy.
Together, we developed the concept “Bob heeft je Back” (Bob Has Your Back). A three-episode social video series in which Bob joins first-time buyers during their house viewings. While they tour the home, Bob watches from an unmarked van, providing real-time advice on what to say and ask.
The message is simple: house hunting doesn’t rely on luck or timing alone. It’s about insight, smart decisions, and recognizing possibilities.
Solution
Empowering the next generation of homeowners
In three episodes, we supported three different starters in their search: single Timo, couple Kevin and Djuna, and entrepreneur Jolie, each with unique needs and ambitions. Through Bob’s eye-opening guidance, they discovered new possibilities they hadn’t considered before.
The entertaining and relatable series performs strongly on social platforms, reaching first-time buyers and encouraging them to take the next step toward homeownership. By combining practical expertise with an accessible format, Rabobank positioned itself as a trusted partner for starters navigating the housing market.
